Traders of Incense is a young adult historical adventure.
Twelve year old Abbas leaves Saba (Yemen) with his  Uncle Bader’s camel caravan determined to finish his father’s last journey and claim his father’s inheritance. The caravan is attacked and Abbas enslaved. Abbas’ survival depends on winning the confidence of the bandit king, Zulahar.  Abbas treads between the world of thieves and traders, knowing Zulahar allows men to leave his band under one condition – death. When Abbas learns Zulahar killed his father, he must choose between avenging his father’s death or saving his own life. Read the beginning of Abbas' journey below.

The setting sun wrapped the caravan in gold as smooth as the honey of Saba. The hair on the camels’ backs reflected its fiery glow beneath their heavy burdens of incense. Abbas tucked one leg beneath him and turned in his saddle. The caravan wound through the desert like a cobra shedding its skin. He could no longer see the dry mountain peaks of his country. He gripped the reins to keep from shouting. After years of dreaming, Abbas was finally on the Incense Trail.

THE MARY JANE GANG is a middle grade adventure that follows two summers in the lives of one family. In 1951, Shiloh Springs, Arkansas is duding up for the annual rodeo. Grace Ann Sullivan has kept her family’s Wild West secret all eleven years of her life. What would this small Southern town think if they knew her great-great-grandmothers were bank robbers? Read more below.

Sarah Beth jerks me by the back of my overall strap. I realize I’d been about to reveal the identity of our great-great-grandmothers, the only bank robbers to ever escape capture and disappear without a trace. We’ve kept their secret all these years. Mama would give me a tongue lashing if she knew I’d almost slipped up.

“Well, it doesn’t matter who they are,” I say. “You’re just not one of them, so you can’t be one of us.”

Josh glares at us now. “Well, who wants to be a girl anyway?”

               That’s when I punch him.
