About (Biography)
I decided I wanted to be an author when Bill Wallace spoke at my elementary school in Oklahoma. Then I didn't tell anyone for twenty years.
Instead I traveled the world (20 countries and counting!), learned several languages and earned a degree in International Relations and Spanish from the University of Arkansas.
I lived in Yemen for three years and found time to start writing. I realized it might be possible to be an AUTHOR after all, but I needed more training.
I entered the Solstice Low-Residency Master of Fine Arts in Creative Writing Program of Pine Manor College. It is an amazing program. If you're interested in getting your MFA in writing for children, read this article I wrote for the Children's Literature Network here.
So, here I am, Master's degree in hand and working on my second book for young people while searching for a publishing home for the first. I am represented by the Stringer Literary Agency.
I also teach preschool fitness for a great company, play soccer, run and read, read, read.
I live in Northwest Arkansas (Go HOGS) with my husband, David, and Silly, our Yemeni cat.
